Bush Bucks’ fight to avoid relegation received a boost when they beat Ajax Cape Town 2-0 in a Premier Soccer League match played in East London on Sunday.
Bucks led 1-0 at half-time.
Bucks opened the score in the ninth minute when Bulelani Matroff got on the end of a cross from Wellington Sambu. Sambu had received the ball from Sibusiso Mazibuko, who caught the Ajax defence napping with a quickly taken free kick.
Ajax were unlucky not to equalise in the 12th minute when Bucks defender Marvin Klaasen scored an own goal, but the assistant referee ruled an Ajax striker offside.
Bucks put the game beyond Ajax in the 77th minute when substitute Agent Sawu scored after receiving a well-weighted cross from Matroff, who was a thorn in the side of the Ajax defence. — Sapa
