Win doesn’t rescue Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs beat Esperance of Tunisia 2-1 in an African Champions League second-round, second-leg match at Olympia Park in Rustenburg on Saturday afternoon.

But Esperance won 5-2 on aggregate after winning the first-leg encounter 4-0.

Chiefs scored first in the 62nd minute via the golden boot of veteran John ”Shoes” Moshoeu.

Esperance equalised 14 minutes later. Dos Santos scored after he got a foot to the ball when a high ball from the middle of the park was helped on its way into the Chiefs’ goal thanks to the boot of the Brazilian-born striker.

Simphiwe Mbambo scored Chiefs’ second goal in the 89th minute. — Sapa
