Sepeng tests positive for banned substance

Athletics South Africa (ASA) on Friday confirmed it was informed by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) on May 3 of an out-of-competition positive dope test by Hezekiel Sepeng.

Sepeng was tested by the IAAF on February 21 this year in Potchefstroom, where his urine sample was found to contain the prohibited substance norandrosterone.

Sepeng has been notified and has until Monday to respond to the ASA, explaining the presence of the substance found in his urine sample, and whether he wants to have the B-sample tested.

”Apart from the above facts, ASA has no further comment,” added ASA general manager Linda Ferns. — Sapa
