The South African Under-21 team scored a runaway victory in their opening encounter against Italy at the International Rugby Board Under-21 World Championships in Argentina on Thursday.
The South Africans romped to a 83-3 win at the Miresta Rugby Club, after leading 35-3 at half-time. They ran in 13 tries in a great display of running rugby.
Coach Peter de Villiers gave all 22 players an opportunity to play in this game, and the bench contributed to five tries. Stand-in captain Derick Kuun and tour captain Paul Delport both scored three tries.
Under-19 championship player of the tournament Hilton Lobberts played a sensational match.
”In all, every player today was brilliant,” said De Villiers. — Sapa
