The Blue Bulls demolished the Eagles 83-6 in a section Y Currie Cup game at Outeniqua Park on Saturday, showing their intentions in defending the Currie Cup for a fourth time.
The Bulls had a 39-6 lead at the break and scored 11 tries in the match, ten of them by their backline.
Flyhalf Kennedy Tsimba scored a brace and helped himself to 29 points before Derick Hougaard took over to torment the Eagles even more.
It took the Bulls two minutes to get their first points when Kennedy Tsimba kicked a penalty from right in front, but another ten to score their first try.
JP Nel sliced through the Eagles defence from an acute angle to set up their first try. Four more followed in the next half and hour as Tsimba, John Mametsa, Riaan van der Bergh and Heini Adams all crossed the line. Adams raced from 40 meters out after a sniping break 40 meters out. Tsimba kicked all but one of those conversions.
The second half saw much of the same, with Wynand Olivier slicing the Eagles defence at will. The Bulls pack never allowed themselves the luxury of making too many passes, instead leaving the backs to create havoc.
And what a awesome display the delivered.
For the Bulls tries were scored by Riaan van den Bergh (2), John Mametsa, JP Nel (2), Kennedy Tsimba (2), Wynand Oliver, Derick Hougaard, Heini Adams and Anton Leonard scored tries. Tsimba also kicked three penalties and five conversions and Hougaard three conversions and a drop goal.
