US filmmakers ‘stable’ after attack by robbers

Two United States filmmakers wounded by robbers in Muldersdrift earlier this week were ”stable and recovering” in Milpark Hospital on Friday.

Hospital spokesperson Monique Lanz said the men had asked that no other details about them or the nature of their injuries be released. Police were just as tightlipped about the incident.

The men were apparently in South Africa to work on a film in Muldersdrift for the Videovision company.

The filmmakers — known only as Eric and Chris — were attacked by robbers on their arrival at their guest house in Zwartkops at 9pm on Wednesday.

The robbers fired at them three times, wounding Chris in the shoulder and Eric in the hand before stealing a laptop belonging to one of them, reported the News24 website.

United States embassy press officer Daniel Stewart could not be reached for comment early on Friday. – Sapa
