Leigh Matthews: The hunt for an accomplice

While Leigh Matthews’s kidnapper and murderer Donovan Moodley sits behind bars, expert detective Piet Byleveld is continuing his search for accomplices he believes helped Moodley, News24 reported on Thursday.

Byleveld is searching for a possible witness who could shed further light on who looked after Matthews’s body — and where.

It became clear during Moodley’s trial that he probably had help with storing the body.

Byleveld said he has a middle-aged man in his sights.

The man earned money as a part-time worker, and might help to supply the last piece of the jigsaw in this case — depending on what the man had to say.

”We know who he is and where he operates because the investigative work about him was thorough. We can’t say who he is because his identity must be protected,” said Byleveld.

”I want to finish the case, but I first have to clear up something with this possible witness before that can happen,” said Byleveld. — Sapa
