Pyongyang says US launched 210 spy missions

The United States launched 210 spy missions against North Korea in November using high-altitude reconnaissance planes, Pyongyang’s official media said on Thursday.

“This is an all-time high in the monthly average number of cases of espionage this year, a clear indication that the US imperialists are frantically escalating their moves to stifle the DPRK (North Korea) by force of arms behind the scene of dialogue,” the Korean Central News Agency said.

Pyongyang often accuses the United States of planning to launch a preemptive nuclear strike against North Korea, while paying lip service to dialogue in the form of talks on ending a nuclear standoff with the Stalinist state.

Five rounds of talks involving the two Koreas, China, Japan, Russia and the United States have been held in an effort to resolve the nuclear standoff.

“The above-said spy planes flew on espionage missions against all areas of the north for at least 200 hours in November which means their daily flights averaged nearly seven hours,” the agency said. – AFP
