Electricity parastatal Eskom spent just more than R4,6-million on its 2004/05 annual report, according to Minister of Public Enterprises Alec Erwin.
In a written reply to a question from Democratic Alliance MP Karel Minnie, he said 8 950 copies of the document were distributed — making the cost of each copy R517.
Eskom’s 2003/04 report cost R3,3-million for 10 000 copies.
In contrast, the 2004/05 report of Erwin’s own department cost R415 000 for 1 500 copies, or R277 a copy, and that of Denel R147 060 for 2 000 copies, or R74 a copy.
Replying to another DA question, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development Brigitte Mabandla said the cost of producing 5 000 copies of the National Prosecuting Authority’s 2004/05 report was R380 000, or R76 a copy.
Her own department’s report cost R151 a copy. — Sapa
