Lowen, Leota look set to play for Cheetahs

The two expats of the Cheetahs, All Black centre Keith Lowen and Samoan hooker Trevor Leota, look set to play for the Free State Cheetahs in their Vodacom Cup match on Friday in Brakpan against log leaders the Falcons.

Lowen and Leota practised with the Cheetahs on Monday afternoon.

Lowen, who came to the Free State capital, Bloemfontein, to play in the Super 14 competition, was sidelined with an injury and not in contention. He will surely fight his way back through the Vodacom Cup side into the franchise team.

Leota, who is struggling with his line-out throws, was dropped. With Tiaan Liebenberg in such great form at the moment and having Ollie le Roux as back-up, it would be better for the big Samoan to work on his line-out and get some match practice in the Vodacom Cup.

Leota’s brother Jess is also in the Vodacom Cup squad for the Cheetahs. — Sapa
