Goldin, Bloom murder case postponed

The remaining two of 11 suspects initially implicated in the murders of actor Brett Goldin and fashion developer Richard Bloom were on Friday remanded to November 3 in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court in Cape Town.

Clinton Davids (22) and Shavaan Marlie (25) appeared briefly in court and were remanded in custody.

Prosecutor Janene Rheeder told the court she was still waiting for ballistic reports and forensic evidence and she needed two extra months for the investigation.

The defence team, Mushtak Parker for Davids, and George Catsicadellis for Marlie, told the court they had no objection to the remand ”at this stage”.

Bloom’s and Goldin’s bodies were found on the M5 freeway on April 17, hours after they had left a party together.

Goldin was well-known for his role in the film Crazy Monkey: Straight outta Benoni

Initially, Zubiar Davids (20), Yasied Essyn (25), Nurshad David (18), Jade Wyngaard (19), Reshaad Sayeed (20), Faizel Gaffoor (25), Rameez Sayeed (23), Trevino Cairncross (25) and Anushka Anthony (22) were held for the murders.

Later Zubair Davids, Essyn, David and Wyngaard were dealt with by way of plea bargains in the Wynberg Regional Court.

As part of the plea bargain, Zubair Davids and Essyn are to testify for the state when Clinton Davids and Marlie go on trial.

Charges against Sayeed, Cairncross and Anthony were dropped.

Charges against Shaik and Gaffoor were also dropped, but may later be re-instituted. — Sapa
