More than 200 arrested in Jo’burg crime blitz

Over 200 people were arrested during an anti-crime operation in Johannesburg, police said on Monday.

Inspector Kriban Naidoo said 238 people were arrested in Saturday’s crime sweep that started at 4am, for crimes including rape, armed robbery, housebreaking, shoplifting and assault.

”They were arrested in several buildings in Joubert Park, Berea and Central Hillbrow,” said Naidoo.

Four unlicensed firearms, 11 rounds of live ammunition and 104 bags of dagga were also confiscated. — Sapa
