A 55-year-old man was shot dead in a hostage drama in Danville, Pretoria, Tshwane metro police said on Saturday.
The man was shot by his 61-year-old landlord following a squabble on Friday night, spokesperson Louise Brits said.
”An argument ensued between a couple and their landlord at about 8pm on Friday. Then the owner shot the man in the chest, killing him instantly.”
Metro police, the South African Police Service, Netcare paramedics as well as a task team who were called to the scene were refused entry into the house, allegedly by the 61-year-old man.
”He did not want anyone coming in”.
Six warning shots were fired and the woman managed to push him out of the way. She was unharmed.
”The man was found hiding behind mielies in his garden, and police arrested him” said Brits.
