Maritzburg United pushed AmaZulu FC deep into the relegation zone when they beat them 2-0 in a Castle Premiership game played before a capacity crowd at Princess Magogo Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

United played without their top goal scorer Sandile Ndlovu who had a neck injury.

Davis Fadlu, who was signed on Thursday from Silver Stars, scored a brace in the 28th and 61st minute.

The home team started the game with an injured Bennet Mnguni and he was replaced in the 19th minute with Kagiso Senamela.

Fadlu’s scored his first goal after a well-taken shot by Graham King was fisted back into play by goalkeeper Camara Kemoko.

United introduced Luntu Mazana for Lynch Pule in the second half.

AmaZulu started attacking hard but their scoring chances wee thwarted by an agile goalkeeper Dejan Bogonovic and some solid defence from Bhasera Onismor Japie Motale and Ivan Winstanley.

In the 50th minute, Edward Malinga, the former Orlando Pirates defender, replaced Motale and David Thwala came in for Michael Magaladi in the 57 minute.
