Four finance youth ministers will be in Parliament as guests of Finance Minister Trevor Manuel when he delivers his budget speech on Wednesday.
They will attend a pre-budget function and will meet Manuel and Minster in the Presidency Essop Pahad, Johan Reiners of the South African Youth Ministers’ Programme said on Friday.
The programme operates in 44 schools in four provinces, teaching democratically elected youth from previously disadvantaged and poor communities about good governance, civic responsibility and active citizenship.
Reiners said the four youth ministers who would attend Parliament were: Furfirey Shagufta of Rylands High in the Western Cape; Sthembile Mngadi of Nobhala High in KwaZulu-Natal; Stanton Lee Prithipaul of Ahmed Timol High in Gauteng; and Thapelo Lekala of Kwamhlanga High in Mpumalanga. — Sapa
