Winnie Madikizela-Mandela celebrated her 70th birthday with a lavish bash at Vodaworld in Midrand on Sunday night, 702 Talk Radio reported.
She refused to answer questions about the recent theft of jewellery valued at R4-million from her home, Beeld said.
Although Madikizela-Mandela turned 70 in September last year, celebrations were put on hold so special guests like former president Nelson Mandela and his wife Graca Machel could attend.
It was a night of praises for Winnie as she was seated next to Mandela and Machel, 702 Talk Radio said.
She watched with delight as musicians entertained the crowd.
According to the Star newspaper on Monday, Madikizela-Mandela refuted suggestions she had retired from an active political and social life.
”I hope to keep helping the country resolve socio-economic problems like poverty alleviation and lack of housing,” the paper quoted her as saying.
”It pains me to see so many people still using the bucket system. It pains me to see so many protesting about poor service delivery.” — Sapa
