A police officer who raped his teenage daughters has been sentenced to life by the Johannesburg High Court, the Sowetan reported on Tuesday.
The officer was on Monday sentenced to three life terms and got a further two years for assaulting one of his daughters with a stick.
The policeman was convicted of raping his 13-year-old daughter once in June 1989. He began raping his 14-year-old child in 1998 and continued until 2000. He threatened to kill them if they told anyone.
In passing sentence Judge Joop Labuschagne said factors that aggravated the man’s sentence were that both girls were virgins and that one of them contracted a sexually transmitted disease.
The officer was sentenced in absentia because he refused to come out of his cell when his case was called. – Sapa
