Amazulu relegation woes continue

Bloemfontein Celtic pushed Amazulu deeper into the relegation zone when they beat them 1-0 in a PSL game played at Seisa Ramabodu Stadium on Sunday.

Celtic were leading 1-0 at halftime.

Celtic striker Nthokozo Sikhakhane opened the scoring in the 39th minute when he beat Amazulu goalkeeper Tshepo Motshwening in the far right corner.

To Amazulu’s credit they searched for the equaliser but were denied on several occasions by in-form Celtic goalkeeper Shuaib Walters.

Amazulu coach Julio Leal made several substitutions in both halves but the changes proved ineffective.

The home team had plenty chances to increase their lead in the second half but striker Petros Mahlatsi wasted numerous opportunities by selfishly holding onto the ball instead of laying off to better placed teammates.

With only five games to play Amazulu remain relegation candidates. They are second from bottom with 21 points from five wins, six draws and 14 losses. Celtic are eighth on the log with 38 points. – Sapa
