Thirteen people were arrested following a two-week investigation into bouncer violence and drug trafficking in Gauteng clubs, police said on Tuesday.
Superintendent Eugene Opperman said two illegal drug factories were also busted. Of the 13 people arrested, six also face charges relating to manufacturing tik (methamphetamine).
Five men and a woman were arrested in Northcliff, north of Johannesburg on Sunday night after they were caught running an illegal drug factory and were later linked to bouncer violence.
”Detectives seized large quantities of the drug tik, ephradine, various chemicals and equipment used in the illegal manufacture of tik.
”A firearm, ammunition and some schedule[d] medicine were also seized,” said Opperman.
The total value of all the drugs and equipment seized amount to about R500 000. – Sapa
