Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has apologised to Cristiano Ronaldo for comments over his upbringing, the Portuguese winger was quoted as saying on Wednesday.
Mourinho reportedly said that Ronaldo was ”ill-educated, disrespectful and immature” after the 22-year-old had said his compatriot could never admit a mistake.
But ahead of the Premiership meeting between Chelsea and United at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night the pair have made up.
”Mourinho has apologised to me and now I have no problem with him,” Ronaldo told the Daily Mirror.
”I am pleased that this has happened. As far as I am concerned, the whole thing is now in the past.”
Manchester City’s Michael Ball has also apologised to Ronaldo for his stamp in the first minute of Saturday’s Manchester derby.
He was charged with violent conduct — although not the more serious charge of serious misconduct — on Tuesday, and his case will be heard on Thursday.
”I deeply regret what I did and have accepted the FA’s charge without hesitation,” Ball said.
”I have also sent a personal apology to Cristiano.
”My action should not be seen on a football pitch and I know we have a responsibility at Premier League level to set a good example to the whole football community,” Ball said. — Sapa-dpa
