Metro cop robbed by teenagers

An Ekurhuleni metro police officer was robbed at gunpoint by three teenaged boys in Germiston on Friday.

South African Police Service spokesperson Captain Steady Nawa said the 38-year-old officer was robbed at daybreak on Friday while walking to work.

”One of the boys was armed with a pistol and another with a knife,” he said.

The three searched the officer at gunpoint and stole his service pistol, a magazine, 17 rounds of ammunition, a cellphone and R500 in cash.

They then ran away.

The officer was unharmed.

Germiston police appealed to the public to come forward should they have any information on the incident. Nawa urged them to contact 011 871 5271. — Sapa
