Local actor Bill Flynn has died, Radio 702’s website reported on Wednesday.
It was understood that he had suffered a heart attack, according to the report.
Flynn (58) was a respected and much-loved figure in the entertainment industry.
A stage and screen actor, he was known for his roles in films such as Heel Against the Head and Running Riot.
He also sang in a band, the Vinnie and the Viscounts.
The acting fraternity was ”utterly devastated” about the death of Flynn, said producer Bobby Heaney.
”Bill was the most loved actor in the whole country.”
Heaney said he found 40 messages and ”missed calls” from friends and colleagues in the acting world when he switched his cellphone on after doing a shoot on Wednesday afternoon.
”People are utterly devastated. It’s a terrible tragedy that such a fine actor and human being should die at such a young age.” — Sapa
