Pedestrian cut in half by car

A pedestrian was cut in half when a car, allegedly travelling over 200km/h, hit him on the N8 near Kimberley in the Northern Cape, paramedics said on Friday.

”One half of the body was found inside the car that hit him, and the other half was lying in the bushes some distance away,” said ER24 spokesperson Ben Johnson.

The incident happened at about 10pm on Thursday night.

ER24’s Kimberley branch manager Albert Hensburg, who attended the scene, said it was the most horrific accident he had ever seen.

”The forces involved in cutting a body in half are massive”.

It was believed that the car was travelling in excess of 200km/h at the time of impact.

The driver’s wife was sleeping on the back seat when collision occurred.

”It is a certainty that she would have died if she was sitting up front,” said Hensburg. — Sapa
