Sameehg Doutie, the 18-year-old winger sensation, was the hero of Ajax Cape Town’s 1-0 victory over Black Leopards in the Castle Premiership game at Cape Town’s Athlone Stadium on Saturday evening.
There was drama late in the second half when referee Buyile Gqbule red-carded Nathan Paulse, an Ajax substitute striker, and Leopards defender Wanani Malaudzi for an off-the-ball incident. Malaudzi had earlier earned himself a yellow card.
Ajax had most of the possession in the goalless first half, with Doutie proving a menace down the right flank. The busiest player was Leopards’ goalkeeper Mashudu Mamphita, who was forced to bring off a number of daring saves.
However, in the opening minutes of the second half, Mamphita was injured and was stretchered off. He was replaced by Ephraim Tjhonde.
Leopards came back strongly with Myron Shongwe and Jabu Maluleke featuring prominently.
Doutie was rewarded in the 70th minute when he latched on to a cross from Franklin Cale to score the only goal.
John Comitis, the Ajax boss, said the ground had been double-booked for Saturday night and he had to pay big money to a minstrel organisation to ensure the game took place. — Sapa
