A man was rescued on Saturday after he fell down a gorge on Table Mountain, shortly after an American tourist was rescued in the same spot, ER24 said on Saturday.
They both fell between the Plattekloof gorge and the cable car.
”In an action replay of today’s ‘slip and fall’, a second person fell in almost exactly the same spot,” said ER24 spokesperson Mark Stokoe.
The man was rescued by helicopter and sustained possible head and spinal injuries.
He was stabilised and airlifted to hospital by the Red Cross Air Mercy Services.
The female tourist was also rescued by helicopter from the same gorge on the mountain earlier in the day. She suffered a broken arm as well as spinal and head injuries.
They were both in a stable condition at the Groote Schuur Hospital. — Sapa
