Recovering Japanese giant Sony said on Wednesday it will introduce a new line-up of flat-screen televisions, including the largest on the market, in a bid to boost its mainstay electronics sales.
Introducing 15 new models of its Bravia line, Sony said its top-end flagship model with a 70-inch screen will be the largest flat television commercially available.
The new models will also have advanced technology that can eliminate fuzziness, Sony said.
Sony expects the retail prices to range from 270Â 000 yen ($2Â 360) for the cheapest 40-inch model to four-million yen ($35Â 000) for the top-end 70-inch set.
Sony has said its plans to sell 10-million Bravia LCD TVs in the year to March 2008. Rival Sharp aims to sell nine million of its Aquos-brand LCD TVs in the same period.
Sony is forecasting a strong recovery in the current financial year as it goes through restructuring. It was hit hard in the previous year by recalls of faulty computer batteries and the huge cost of developing its PlayStation 3 game console. — AFP
