ANCYL lashes ‘incorrigible’ Sello Moloto

Statements attributed to the chairperson of the African National Congress (ANC) in Limpopo, Sello Moloto, were on Friday described as reckless, immature and childish by the ANC Youth League (ANCYL).

ANCYL spokesperson Zizi Kodwa said the organisation’s national executive committee (NEC) met on Thursday where a detailed report about the statements attributed to Moloto was discussed.

”The NEC was unanimous in its condemnation of reckless, immature and childish behaviour of Sello Moloto,” an ANCYL statement read.

Kodwa said Moloto had not only consistently been on the rampage in attacking the ANCYL but had exposed his ”shallow understanding of the ANC”.

The ANCYL felt Moloto was incorrigible and had become an embarrassment and a political liability to the movement.

Kodwa said in the recent past there had been unprovoked, despicable and reckless statements by some leaders in public.

”Sello Moloto chose to join this platoon,” said Kodwa.

The ANCYL would meet with ANC officials with the view to instituting disciplinary action against Moloto.

This followed calls by the league’s provincial body in Limpopo that the Limpopo premier should resign.

”Enough is enough, Sello Moloto must go,” the league’s Limpopo provincial working committee said in statement on Wednesday.

It accused Moloto of regularly losing his temper in meetings, and of saying things he later apologised for.

The provincial branch also learnt with ”shock and dismay” that Moloto used abusive language when he dismissed a community delegation from the Mopani region on Monday. – Sapa
