The trial of a man accused of manufacturing and exporting components that may be used in the manufacture of nuclear weapons was postponed in the Pretoria High Court on Monday, South African Broadcasting Corporation news reported.
Daniel Geiges’s trial was postponed to November 27.
The court heard that Geiges suffered from cancer and was unfit to stand trial due to treatment.
His co-accused, Gerhard Wisser, earlier pleaded guilty to charges relating to the contravention of various sections of the Non-Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction Act, as well as the Nuclear Energy Act.
Wisser entered into a plea bargain with the state and he received an 18-year suspended sentence. — Sapa
