A number of African National Congress (ANC) members at Alice in the Eastern Cape have sustained injuries after a branch meeting ended in an exchange of blows, the South African Broadcasting Corporation reported on Monday.
Reports said a group of party supporters arrived at Khayalethu village during the registration process for an AGM and called for its dissolution.
Tempers flared after it transpired that the alleged disruptors did not belong to the branch.
Sub-region secretary Joe Ndlebe said a number of people were injured and taken to hospital.
He said the meeting had been re-scheduled for February 17.
He alleged that a councillor from the Nkonkobe municipality was also part of the attackers. — Sapa
