A Belgian tourist was robbed on Table Mountain by two men armed with knives, Cape Town police said on Wednesday.
Captain Randall Stoffels said the men robbed the 56-year-old hiker of his camera, cellphone and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The tourist was ascending Table Mountain through Skeleton Gorge when he was attacked. He was not hurt. After the incident the robbers fled into nearby bushes.
The tourist informed parks officials who launched a manhunt for the two men.
An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the robbery and some of the stolen items were found in his possession.
He was scheduled to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on charges of robbery and being in possession of suspected stolen goods, Stoffels said. — Sapa
