The African National Congress (ANC) is establishing transition teams to ensure a smooth transfer of power following next year’s election, ANC treasurer Mathews Phosa said on Tuesday.
”We have a transition team to make sure there is a seamless, stable transition between this national executive committee and the government,” Phosa told business people at a Swedish-South Africa business breakfast in Midrand.
He said there were regular meetings between President Thabo Mbeki and ANC president Jacob Zuma to make sure that ”nothing should go wrong”.
”I want to assure you that there is a great future in this country and together we can make a difference,” he said.
He again assured the international business people that the ANC was not planning radical changes to the economy.
”I want to assure our international partners that we do not plan to re-engineer the success story as it pertains to the management of our economy,” Phosa said. — Sapa
