The Johannesburg High Court on Wednesday once again postponed the murder case resulting from the death of five-year-old Danielle Esterhuizen.
The hearing will resume on Thursday.
State prosecutor Jacqueline Steyn said there was no courtroom available.
Furthermore, the judge scheduled to hear the proceedings was hearing another case.
Three men — David Ngomane (3), Tsakane Sithole (25) and Thabang Jane (26) — are alleged to have murdered Esterhuizen at the Riebeeck Lake resort in Randfontein in December 2006.
They allegedly shot the five-year-old while she was sitting on her mother’s lap after they attempted to rob the family. The family were fishing at the lake.
Two of the men were arrested soon after the incident.
They admitted before a magistrate that they were at the scene of the crime but had said they were not involved in the murder.
Another man was arrested in the Free State in May last year, while another, only known as Bila, died in Mozambique.
On Tuesday, the case was postponed due to the withdrawal of the legal counsel for Sithole. He told the court he was involved in another civil matter that was running concurrently with the case.
On Monday, a handful of protesters went to lay wreaths at the court in memory of Esterhuizen.
The three men face charges of murder, attempted murder, robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. — Sapa
