Edith Venter in armed robbery at home

Well-known South African socialite Edith Venter had her jewellery stolen in an armed robbery at her home in Atholl, Johannesburg, police said on Tuesday.

Spokesperson Constable Neria Malefetse said the robbery took place on Tuesday afternoon when Venter was driving into her property.

”She was accosted by two suspects who took the jewellery she was wearing,” said Malefetse.

She said the men were armed but no shots were fired and no one was injured. The men fled in a white Volkswagen Polo.

Police still need to establish exact details of the jewellery stolen and whether anything else was taken. A robbery case has been opened.

Venter is a popular motivational speaker and the owner of Edith Venter Promotions in Johannesburg.

She is involved in welfare work for organisations such as Hospice, Johannesburg Child Welfare, Reach for a Dream and the Cotlands Baby Sanctuary. — Sapa
