Modise resigns from 2010 Cup committee

Spokesperson for the 2010 World Cup local organising (LOC) committee Tim Modise has resigned, world soccer governing body Fifa said on Thursday.

He will leave the committee at the end of the month to return to broadcasting, according to a statement.

”I have had a rewarding, interesting and enriching experience at the organising committee over the last 20 months,” Modise was quoted as saying.

”I am returning to broadcasting and also to manage my other business interests.”

The LOC’s chief executive, Danny Jordaan, said the committee respected Modise’s wish and added that he had made an ”immense contribution” to the project. — Sapa
