Rescue workers would continue searching for two trapped miners in the Tshepong mine in the Free State, through Saturday night and Sunday morning, Harmony Gold said on Saturday.
”We have recruited 50 more rescue workers who would work on a second accessible area that was found earlier today,” spokesperson Marian van der Walt said.
She said the new area raised hopes of finding the men alive.
The two men were among four miners who were trapped following a fall of ground on Thursday. Their two colleagues were brought to the surface safely.
”We will continue searching until they are found,” said Van der Walt
Teams on eight-hour shifts worked throughout Thursday and Friday nights.
”We remain positive that the miners will be found alive,” Van der Walt said.
