Brazil, Ghana square up in U20 final

Four-time champions Brazil will play Ghana in the final of the Under-20 World Cup on Friday after both sides safely negotiated their semifinals.

Brazil beat Costa Rica 1-0 thanks to a sublime finish by Alan Kardec from a narrow angle.

Ghana had earlier beaten Hungary 3-2, a brace from Dominic Adiyiah setting up a healthy lead for the Africans by the half-hour.

In a thrilling final 20 minutes, Marko Futacs pulled back a goal in the 73rd minute but Ghana sealed their progression through a Abeiku Quansah thunderbolt although Adam Balajti made for a nervous end with a second for Hungary. — AFP
