We rarely get to see classic movies on the big screen and when we do it is often a poor quality print. The good news is that the Fugard Theatre has upped the game.
? Recently fitted with new cinema-style seats and a high-definition screen and projection system, one can enjoy classic movies of stunning quality in surround sound. The Winter Classic Film Festival runs on weekly themes. Classic political thrillers such as All the President’s Men and Network end July 2, and the week of July 4 to 9 has gay cinema classics such as Sunday Bloody Sunday and Dog Day Afternoon. From July 12 to 16 a series of rock concerts includes Woodstock, Pink Floyd Live in Berlin and Simon and Garfunkel in Central Park. The film screenings start at 8pm nightly and hot soup, fresh garlic bread and wine are served in the foyer from 7pm.
