Bees Roux Signs With France's Bordeaux

Disgraced South African rugby player Bees Roux has signed a temporary contract with French club the Bordeaux Eagles, according to media reports, three days after being sacked by the Blue Bulls.

Newly promoted Bordeaux had lost four props to injury, Agence France-Presse reported on Sunday, and Roux was set to arrive early in the new week as a replacement for Nicolas Decamps, who ruptured ligaments in his left knee.

Roux (29) was sacked by the Bulls on Thursday for breach of contract, a month after he pleaded guilty to culpable homicide for the murder of a metro police officer.

The Bulls said in a statement, following a two-day disciplinary hearing, that Roux’s contract had been terminated for training with rival team the Pumas during his court case.

The Bulls said the relationship with the front-row forward had become “intolerable” and his dismissal was “an appropriate sanction”.

Roux was given a five-year suspended jail sentence last month after beating a metro police officer to death in 2010. — Sapa
