In conjunction with the Southern Africa Trust
“Investing in the Future is one of the oldest and most credible awards for corporate responsibility. When the awards were launched 24 years ago, corporate social investment was a poorly understood phenomenon, often relegated to the margins of businesses,” M&G editor in chief Nic Dawes said.
“Now it is broadly seen as part of the strategic core and deserving of executive and board-level attention.
“The challenge now is to ensure that the immense resources of the corporate sector are brought to bear in ways that generate sustainable change both for individual businesses and the social ecosystem.”
In conjunction with the Southern Africa Trust, the event incorporates the Drivers of Change awards. They celebrate companies, individuals, civil society and government projects in Southern Africa that change the lives of people living in poverty.
“The Drivers of Change awards scan the terrain of philanthropy to identify trends, showcase emerging practices and innovations and craft a shared agenda to build social investment and philanthropy in a new context,” said Neville Gabriel, founding executive director of the trust.
All entries for the awards will be considered for the Dr Ivan May Memorial Award. The M&G invites all companies to enter for the Investing in the Future and Drivers of Change awards 2012.
