Letter: Maharaj must resign

Letter: Maharaj Must Resign

Mac Maharaj can run but he cannot hide! It is unfortunate that some leaders in the ANC have dropped the moral code and collaborated with greedy state bureaucrats and tenderpreneurs ("Maharaj: The 'foul secret' that has torn sister from sister", February 1).

Ordinary members of the ANC are the victims of lies and propaganda. But lies have short legs, they are unsustainable – they collide with truth. Like Judge Willem Heath, Maharaj must resign and be deployed to a retirement home.

It is a pity that the ANC has attracted com-tsotsis who masquerade as revolutionaries. Govan Mbeki and Harry Gwala lambasted the "cabal" that wanted to impose a weak leader at the helm of the ANC, but the cabal succeeded in 2007. We all know Zuma is a proxy of this cabal.

Zuma must explain why he chose Maharaj to be his spokesperson. Maharaj is a former South African Communist Party member. True Marxist-Leninists do not lie. They do not accept bribes and create "hoax" conspiracies to frame comrades. The president must do the right thing and expel Maharaj to protect his legacy, the ANC and the nation. – Terence Mogale

Is it possible that he allowed his mind to be colonised? – Peter Hyslop, Cape Town
