The 96.7km ride from Winterton to Kamberg saw Mail & Guardian’s editor-in-chief, Nic Dawes and AmaBunghane’s Craig McKune face the challenging ascent of 1 549m.
The climb was dangerous and some cyclists were met with injury but pushing forward proved well worth it. They're greeted by a cool, refreshing change in climate and splendid views of the Southern Berg.
While they wade on, with the bushveld at their backs, they touch base at the gateway to the Kamberg, where the landscape is lined with oaks and planes – a terraced contrast to the thorn trees the cyclists were used to seeing just 24 hours before.
Check out this steady climb to Kamberg:

From the tweets, it seems like team-M&G are still in high spirits.
Another day. Another 100km. Still alive and having fun, I'm surprised to say #joberg2c

Plenty of sore legs in the bunch today as we made the slowclimb from Winterton to Kamberg. High peaks dusted with snow. Felt clear sky.

With all the tweeting cyclists, there was bound to be a messy mobile phone charging station somewhere.

And then of course, the rewarding view.
One of the great views our #OMJoberg2C riders are seeing today on the route twitter.com/joBerg2c_journ…
