Orlando Pirates coach Roger de Sa has resigned from his post with immediate effect, Kickoff magazine reported on Friday.
The former Wits mentor has been under pressure following three final defeats in the MTN8, Telkom Knockout and CAF Champions League, as well as a faltering start to the League in 2014.
The magazine said Pirates had confirmed his resignation.
"Roger has achieved at Orlando Pirates more than he did anywhere before," Orlando Pirates chairperson Irvin Khoza was quoted as saying.
"He reached three finals including the African Champions League final. The last time Orlando Pirates reached the final of this prestigious tournament was 15 years ago.
"I know Roger would have loved to add the second golden star to the Orlando Pirates logo. He now knows how to get there. All that is left is for him to clinch it. A feat I have no doubt he will achieve in his career as a coach. Roger leaves Orlando Pirates with an enhanced CV. I wish him well in his future endeavours," said Khoza.
De Sa said he would take with him fond memories of his time with one of South Africa's best known clubs. "I wish everybody at the club, including the technical team, players and management success in the future," he told Kickoff. – Sapa
