  • A new weekend food, craft, live music and lifestyle bazaar, the Station Market, launches this Friday in central Johannesburg. The venue is a popular film and video shoot location and now will also include activities such as quad biking, and paintballing.   • Exact Imagination: 300 Years of Botanically Inspired Art in South Africa showcases the extraordinary national treasure of botanical illustrations in the South African National Biodiversity Institute (Sanbi) collection curated by Cyril Coetzee. It brings together three intersecting themes: botanical illustrations from the Sanbi and other collections; contemporary botanically inspired fine art; and Southern African objects made from grasses, reeds and creepers. Durban 

  • The Centre for Creative Arts presents the 18th Poetry Festival featuring 24 poets and spoken word artists from 12 different countries to celebrate a diverse mix of traditions in oratory and storytelling. The Goethe Institut hosts a closed conference of spoken word organisers from around the continent, Poetry Africa collaborate with Harare-based Shoko Festival, and WordnSound hosts American word artist Buddy Wakefield’s first South African tour. The centre will also be part of the inner city’s regeneration initiative in Rivertown, where the festival’s finale and a performance by HHP will take place. WHEN October 13 to 18.   • Vocalist and songwriter Mbuso Khoza performs in a day and night concert with bassist Prince Bulo, recent winner of the South African Music Rights Organisation overseas scholarship award, and Joyous Celebration pianist Lungelo Ngcobo.   • The 10th annual Baxter Dance Festival showcases dynamic and diverse local and international dance and choreography. Kicking off on October 9, the main programme features works from established and invited companies and professionals. The off-main programme, from October 11, showcases work from up-and-coming choreographers and students, and the fringe from October 18 includes work from youth and school groups, dance studios and traditional dance groups.
