  • Stars of the North: Revisiting Sculpture from Limpopo draws from Wits Arts Museum’s substantial historical holdings and is prompted by the recent donation by Trent Read. It features artists Noria Mabasa, Nelson Mukhuba, Jackson Hlungwani, Johannes Maswanganyi, Johannes Segogela, Samson Mudzunga, Paul Tavhana, Philip Rikhotso, Owen and Goldwin Ndou, Freddy Ramabulana and Johannes Chauke.   • Gauteng Opera celebrates its recent move to Johannesburg with a concert by its singing group, Forté. It will feature Forté soloists Khumbuzile Dlamini, Phenye Modiane and Kagiso Boroko, with guest appearances by the Gauteng Opera choral ensemble and Gauteng Opera chamber band and will be conducted by Eddie Clayton. Audiences can expect a mixed bag of musical treats, ranging from South African and African standards such as Paradise Road, African Dream, Malaika, Weeping and Wathula Nje to popular favourites such as Andrea Bocelli’s Canto della Terra and Josh Groban’s You Raise Me Up.   • Catch a literary talk with Ugandan writer and filmmaker Dilman Dila and South African writer, director, producer and poet Napo Masheane. Dila’s most recent works include the sci-fi Lights on Water, published in The Short Anthology, the novelette The Terminal Move and the romance novella Cranes Crest at Sunset. Masheane is a founding member of the Feela Sista! Spoken Word Collective as well as co-director of Colour of the Diaspora, an international collective of black women.   • Journalist and writer Percy Mabandu will read excepts from his forthcoming book Yakhal’inkomo — Portrait of a Jazz Classic accompanied by a band led by Sama-nominated jazz drummer Tumi Mogorosi. Mabandu’s book and performance on the night draw inspiration from the classic jazz record by Winston Mankunku Ngozi, Yakhal’inkomo, recorded in 1968. WHEN March 8 at 8.30pm.   • An initiative of Chimurenga, Pan African Space Station presents Floating Points aka Sam Shepherd, a musician, composer, producer, DJ and neuroscientist based in London. He will be performing a deep-house-oriented vinyl DJ set using his rotary “travel” mixer to combine his own productions with a vast array of influences.   • Stevenson Cape Town presents two solo exhibitions: paintings by Nigerian-born, United States resident Odili Donald Odita titled Third Degree of Separation; and two photographic series by Sabelo MlangeniMy Storie, which focuses on one of Johannesburg’s oldest suburbs, Bertrams, and premiered at the Liverpool Biennale in 2012, and No Problem photographed in Alexandra township between 2011 and 2013.   • Infecting the City 2015 sees a new format with a team of curators presenting a programme of works. Each group on the programme (lettered A-E) is loosely clustered around an idea or theme. The team members (under the leadership of Jay Pather, who has curated four iterations of Infecting the City) were chosen for their different backgrounds and disciplines and have diverse ideas about how art functions in public space and how audiences interact with public art.   • Pulcinella’s Secret is a solo exhibition of acrylic paintings and drawings inspired by the 
    Pulcinella (Punch) character from commedia dell’arte by Trui Roozeveld van der Ven. “In Italian and French, and probably a few other languages, the expression ‘Pulchinella’s Secret’ means that it is an open secret. Ironically, in this world of commercial make-believe, my views are occasionally blurred and at times it is hard to distinguish between genuine and counterfeit, right and wrong.
