SA Minister of Arts and Culture congratulates award-winning “Hear Me Move” team

CAPE TOWN, June 6 (ANA) – Minister of Arts of Culture Nathi Mthethwa on Monday congratulated the South African team involved in the award-winning dance film “Hear Me Move”, calling them an inspiration to the country’s youth.

“We are proud and happy that the young people involved with this film have made such a positive impact around the world with their film on South Africa,” said Mthethwa.

“They have shown the youth as to what is possible, especially during this milestone 40th anniversary of Youth Month.”

The “Hear Me Move” film and its production team Coal Stove Pictures have been nominated in five categories for the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) which takes place in Nigeria on Saturday, June 11.

The categories are for Best Soundtrack by Zethu Mashika, Nyaniso Dzedze as Best New Actor, Bontle Modiselle for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Best Editing by CA Van As Wegen, and Best Visual Effects by Coal Stove Pictures.

“We wish them all the best with the AMAA in Nigeria,” said Mthethwa.

In addition to its AMAA nominations, the film has been screened at Cannes and the London Film Festival.

It has also won the PRISM Award for South African PR Campaign of the Year, the South African Film and Television Award (SAFTA) award for Best Achievement in Sound Design by Basiami Bibi Segola, and the Kalasha Award for best Score and Screenplay in Kenya.

“Hear Me Move” follows Muzi, the son of a famous pantsula dancer, trying to discover the truth surrounding his father’s death.
