The new director of the NPA, Shaun Abrahams, has revealed his hand in backing Nomgcobo Jiba. Madelene Cronje, M&G
The high court in Pretoria on Thursday struck Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Nomgcobo Jiba and NPA executive Lawrence Mrwebi off the roll of advocates. Judgment was reserved in June in the drawn-out case brought by the General Council of the Bar (GCB) against the two and NPA North Gauteng director Sibongile Mzinyathi.
On Mzinyathi, Judge Francis Legodi ruled against the GCB, which wanted all three respondents struck off the roll of advocates for how they handled three political cases, including the decision to drop criminal charges against former head of crime intelligence Richard Mdluli.
Jiba and Mrwebi could now lose their positions within the NPA. They will likely appeal the ruling.
Below is a selection of reports, analysis, and comment written about the two and their controversies at the NPA.
