The JSE Investment Challenge is the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE)’s flagship CSI initiative. The Challenge is interactive, online trading game and educational programme aimed at introducing high school learners and university students to the world of finance and investments; it also helps to also demystify the Stock Exchange. The competition has been in existence for over 40 years and the number of participants and educational institutions participating has steadily increased.

Sparrow schools

Sparrow Educational Trust was founded by general manager Jackie Gallagher in 1992 as a response to the demand for specialised, learner-centred education for children from disadvantaged backgrounds as well as for those with remedial needs. Sparrow FET College was founded in 2010 to address the issues of youth unemployment, skills development and entrepreneurship in South Africa. The initiative ensures that previously disadvantaged and unemployed youth are given the opportunity to gain skills at various Setas (Skills Education Training Authorities) that offer various National Qualifications Framework diplomas.
