Chiefs outgunned by United

SuperSport United not only knocked Kaizer Chiefs off course in their race for the Castle Premiership title but also embarassed the league favourites by beating them 3-0 at Loftus Stadium on Wednesday night. All the goals were scored in the first half. Daniel Matsau, Tsweu Mokoro and Dennis Masina did the damage control in the 15th, 21st and 37th minutes respectively.

Ajax edge Chiefs out of Absa Cup

Vociferous Kaizer Chiefs fans who came in their droves to the Mmabatho Stadium on Saturday hoping to witness their team’s passage to the quarterfinals of the Absa Cup went back home with their tails between their legs after Ajax Cape Town grabbed a 1-0 win in the lucrative competition.

Classic succumb to superior Pirates

Orlando Pirates’ vast superiority allowed them to come back from behind and overwhelm Classic 3-1 in the last 16 of the Absa Cup Soccer Competition match at the Johannesburg Stadium on Wednesday night. Ben Madlanzi rifled a beautiful shot in front of defender Papi Khomane past fully stretched goalkeeper Thabang Radebe in the 43rd minute.

AmaGlug-Glug beat Algeria at home

South Africa’s doomed campaign for the Olympic Games in Athens in August ended on Friday when AmaGlug-Glug narrowly beat Algeria 1-0 at Blida Stadium in Algiers. The first half was a boring affair and the local kids, who gained free entrance, chose to entertain themselves by beating drums on the grand stands.

Students give Mashaba the shakes

Wits University rattled the net twice in each half against the Black Leopards on Wednesday night at the Milpark Stadium in Johannesburg. Wits led 2-1 at half-time. Gert Schalkwyk and Charles Yohane did the damage in the 13th and 29th minutes while Gilbert Mushangazhike scored the consolation goal for the Limpopo-based club in the 38th minute.

Acting CEO of Boxing South Africa Krish Naidoo is upset by Mzimase Mnguni’s live outburst on national television after a national championship bout in Cape Town. Mnguni’s charge Neo Seboka suffered a fourth-round stoppage defeat on Friday night against former South African mini-flyweight holder S’Thembele Kibiti.
