Award-winning Arthur Schlesinger dies at 89

Arthur M Schlesinger Jr, the Pulitzer Prize-winning historian and Kennedy insider who helped define mainstream liberalism during the Cold War and remained an eminent public thinker into the 21st century, has died, his son said. He was 89. Schlesinger suffered a heart attack while dining out with family members on February 28 in Manhattan.

Pulitzer-winning author dies of pneumonia

William Styron, the Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist whose explorations of the darkest corners of the human mind and experience were charged by his own near-suicidal demons, died on November 1 in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. He was 81. Styron’s daughter, Alexandra, said the author died of pneumonia.

Harry Potter is coming

Harry Potter readers, here’s an extra special holiday gift: JK Rowling announced that she has completed the sixth Potter novel, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The book will go on sale in Britain and the United States on July 16, publishers said on Tuesday. Rowling has said that one of her characters will not survive her sixth book.
