​Joy Watson

Joy Watson is a senior researcher and feminist writer, with 18 years of experience in analysing public policy and legislation from a feminist perspective. Her work focuses on women and service delivery, women and governance and violence against women. She been integrally involved in feminist advocacy and has published widely as a policy brief specialist as well in popular media, including writing a feminist column for Elle magazine. Her research work on rape has been used as the basis of a television documentary and for presentation at many conferences, seminars and roundtables. She has been commissioned to work on a number of key feminist policy briefs, including at an international level, for UN Women, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the UNFPA and UNDP. She is in doing a PhD on rape and public policy formulation at the University of Stellenbosch and is also the online editor for www.nastywomen.org.za
